Gulsoom Samadi Qarlaq, one of the women in Takhar, has established a carpet weaving training workshop called "Ai Khanam Carpet Weaving Workshop" for the underprivileged women and girls of this province with her own expenses and with the cooperation of her husband. Ms. Samadi Qarleq told the Daily Information of Rooz that she created this workshop for the purpose of providing carpet weaving training for women and tries to provide more job opportunities for them. According to him, about 30 poor and needy women and girls are trained in this carpet weaving workshop. He says that if the local Taliban officials cooperate with him, he will develop this workshop to provide more women with the opportunity to learn carpet weaving skills. A number of women who are trained in this workshop say that they graduated from university, but because of the ban on women's work by the Taliban, they stayed at home. Soraya, one of these women, told the Daily News newspaper that after graduating from university, she stayed at home due to the ban on women's work by the Taliban, and now she is trying to learn carpet weaving in this workshop.
